Dylan Katz, MS
I am a mental performance consultant with a background in sport psychology, performance psychology, and resilience training. When I was a college baseball player, I never thought much about mental training and did not know sport psychologists existed. Now that I am in the field, I realize that I really could have benefited from working with one! My master’s program in athletic counseling highlighted the importance of focusing on the holistic person – how sport psychology skills and theory can help athletes perform on the field, but also improve their lives. I embraced this practice in my work with US Army Soldiers, teaching mental skills to enhance their performance and promote resilience. And it continues as I work with Veterans who are dealing with the impact of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and PTSD. I’ve tried to develop a core approach to my work: listen, build trust, and create a space where each individual feels comfortable so they can thrive.
Through my work with athletes (Olympic-development, collegiate, high school, youth, exercisers, weekend warriors), Soldiers in the U.S. Army, musicians/artists, Veterans, and business teams, some main themes stand out: to grow mentally/emotionally, improve performance, consistently, and achieve goals over time.
